ARCHIVED - Federal/Provincial/Territorial Assistance Program for HIV Secondarily Infected Individuals
On December 15, 1998, Federal/Provincial/Territorial Health Ministers announced a financial assistance package for HIV/AIDS secondarily infected individuals who are first order relatives (spouse/partner or a child) of Extraordinary Assistance Plan (EAP) recipients.
This assistance package, funded by the federal, provincial and territorial governments, consists of one lump sum payment of $240,000 tax-free.
You may be eligible to apply for this assistance if you are:
- a first order relative (spouse, partner or child) of a federal Extraordinary Assistance Plan (EAP) recipient;
- HIV positive resulting from the relationship with the primary EAP recipient, and not from other risk factors; and
- you are a resident of Canada and were a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant at the time you were diagnosed HIV positive.
The estates of deceased persons who would have met the above criteria are also eligible to apply.
