Wastewater system improvements for Stanley residents

News Release

Stanley, New Brunswick, February 2, 2018—The governments of Canada and New Brunswick are committed to investing in local infrastructure that ensures Canadians and their families have access to modern, reliable water and wastewater services that meet their needs. These investments safeguard the health and well-being of residents, protect waterways and preserve local ecosystems.

T.J. Harvey, Member of Parliament for Tobique–Mactaquac, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Bill Fraser, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation; and Barb MacDonald, Deputy Mayor of the Village of Stanley, today announced that a new project has been approved under the Government of Canada’s Clean Water and Wastewater Fund. The federal government is funding over $521,000, the provincial government is providing over $260,000, and the municipality is contributing over $260,000.

Thanks to this investment, Stanley residents will benefit from an improved wastewater treatment system. The first phase of the project involves assessing the Village’s existing wastewater treatment plant and sanitary collection system. The project will also include the renewal of manholes, replacement of the Southside wastewater pumping station, improvements to the Northside station, and installation of new flow meters. This project is essential to keeping the Village’s waterways clean and the community healthy and livable.
