Federal skilled workers selection criteria: Age
This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.
Pursuant to section R81, officers should award the applicant points for their age on the date their application is received at the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) or submitted through Express Entry, as follows:
Awarding points: applications received before May 4, 2013

Note: When an applicant has a birthday after they receive an Invitation to Apply but before they submit their electronic application for permanent residence, officers should consider applying the public policy to exempt applicants for permanent residence from certain age-based requirements between Invitation to Apply and application if the applicant may be refused on federal skilled workers class (FSWC) requirements.
