Date: February 6, 2014
Summary: Citizenship fees have not changed in almost 20 years, leading to a major imbalance between the cost of providing these services and the service fees paid by the applicant. To decrease taxpayer subsidy, and as part of Economic Action Plan 2013 that announced plans for more efficient government operations, the Government of Canada announced an increase in citizenship fees.
Effective February 6, 2014, the processing fee for adult grant of citizenship (including adoption) and adult resumption of citizenship applications has increased.
GCMS has been updated as of February 6, 2014.
