This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

The instructions on email correspondence with clients who have paper based applications are now available for officers in the format of program delivery instructions (PDI). These procedures apply to all lines of business with paper based applications in the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada network.

These new PDI include instructions on how to save a sent email in the Global Case Management System, how to provide evidence of sent emails for litigation purposes and how to send emails in bulk.

These PDI replace OB 265-A – Email communication with clients, which is now expired.
