The inland processing (IP) manual chapter IP 2, Processing applications to sponsor members of the family class, has been fully modernized and incorporated into the family class program delivery instructions (PDIs), under Permanent resident program: Non-economic classes – Family class.
The PDIs updates include new or amended instructions on
- application completeness requirements
- sponsorship eligibility assessment
- co-signers
- financial requirements to sponsor (minimum necessary income)
- sponsorship bars
- offences under the Criminal Code of Canada related to paragraph 133(1)(e) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR)
- sponsorship default
- roles and responsibilities of the case processing centres and permanent residence processing offices
- referring sponsorship applications to local IRCC offices
- sponsor and co-signer withdrawal procedures
