The Bilingualism at citizenship ceremonies instructions have been updated with additional steps that citizenship staff need to perform before a citizenship ceremony occurs. Office staff must check the language format of a ceremony to make sure it matches the language selected by all of the citizenship candidates being invited for that ceremony. If the language format does not match for a candidate, office staff should call that candidate immediately (this must be done prior to the ceremony) and reschedule them to either the next bilingual ceremony or the next ceremony with the format of their preferred official language of service.
