The Minister approved the Temporary Public Policy for Afghan Nationals in Canada Applying for a Work or Study Permit on December 23, 2021. The public policy exempts all eligible Afghan nationals with valid temporary resident status in Canada from the requirement to pay the fees associated with their work or study permit applications and, where applicable, the fees for the provision of services in relation to the collection of biometric information. The instructions were updated to include the fee waivers associated with this new temporary public policy.
