The Government of Canada has extended temporary measures for individuals impacted by the conflict in Sudan until October 27, 2025. This means that:
- Affected Canadian citizens and permanent residents can continue to apply for travel documents and replacement citizenship certificates, free of charge.
- Sudanese nationals in Canada can continue to apply for work permits, study permits, temporary resident permits as well as status extensions, free of charge.
- Family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who fled Sudan on or after April 15, 2023 and arrived in Canada before July 15, 2023 can continue to apply for work permits, study permits, and permanent residence under the family class, free of charge. They are now also eligible to apply to extend their temporary resident status in Canada and a temporary resident permit, free of charge.
Fee waivers for overseas TRV applications and requests for TRP consideration are no longer included in these measures as the temporary public policy for this measure expired October 27, 2024. Priority processing instructions for Sudan have also been updated.
