A total of 5,785 permanent residents admitted to Canada between 2016 and 2019 were from Hong Kong (using their country of citizenship), representing 0.5% of the total number of permanent residents admitted to Canada over the same time period (or 5,785 over 1,245,110) (see Table 1 below for more details).
Between 2016 and 2019, the annual average number of permanent residents admitted to Canada from Hong Kong was 1,446. This represents, an annual average of 0.5% of the total number of permanent residents admitted to Canada over that time period.
