Funding included in these supplementary estimates is comprised of the following items:
Funding for the Interim Federal Health Program—598.0M of voted authorities
- This funding is to cover incremental costs related to the provision of health-care benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
Funding for the Interim Housing Assistance Program—$17.1M of voted authorities
- This funding is to compensate provinces and municipalities for the interim housing of asylum claimants.
Funding for the Resettlement Assistance Program—$6.1M of voted authorities
- This funding is to provide direct financial support to eligible clients, primarily Government-Assisted Refugees, to help them meet their basic needs upon arrival in Canada.
Transfers to and from Global Affairs Canada—$3.5M
- This includes a transfer of $8.7M from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) to adjust funding previously provided for departmental staff located at missions abroad; as well as a transfer to GAC of $5.3M for the Global Operations Centre in Manila.
Internal reallocation of resources from contributions to the Grant for the Interim Housing Assistance Program— $0.0M
- A transfer of $15.0M from the Interim Housing Assistance Program contributions to the Grant is included to maintain the traditional federal role of supporting asylum claimants through jurisdictional partnerships.
