Question

With regard to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the temporary special measures for extended family in Gaza due to the Israel-Hamas war, since the December 21, 2023 announcement: (a) how many applications have been (i) received, (ii) accepted, (iii) denied, (iv) pending or under review; (b) what is the breakdown by male and female; (c) what is the breakdown by age range; (d) how many were study permits; (e) how many were open work permits; and (f) how many IMM 5992 statutory declaration forms have been filled out?

The data presented below refers to the Temporary public policy to facilitate temporary resident visas for certain extended family affected by the crisis in Gaza. Please note when reviewing the data below that “applications” refers to complete Temporary Residence Visa applications. Submitting an IMM5992 through a web form is the first step in the application process. All data is as of March 1, 2024. IRCC has received a large volume of requests and is continuing to review web forms and applications.

  1. 986 complete applications have been received and accepted into processing.
  2. 14 applications have been approved for people who have departed Gaza of their own accord and completed processing, including enrolling biometrics. Visas have been issued.
  3. IRCC has not refused any applications.
  4. Pending or under review: 972 applications are currently pending. IRCC cannot finalize applications until clients have exited Gaza and complete remaining processing, including biometrics.

d-e) All applications submitted under the Temporary Public Policy extended family are for Temporary Resident Visas. Individuals may apply for an open study or work permit after arriving in Canada.

f) Each Temporary Resident Visa application has its own IMM 5992 statutory declaration form. IRCC continues to review and process applications.
