Question:
Q-895 — With regard to individuals who have entered Canada at irregular border crossings, since January 1, 2020, broken down by month: how many individuals entered at such border crossings, broken down by province or territory, and by area (e.g., near Emerson, Manitoba)?
Reply (Original text):
Insofar as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is concerned:
Asylum claims by persons who entered Canada between ports of entry (i.e. via an irregular border crossing) are tracked, but the specific areas where they crossed the border are not systematically tracked and are therefore not available.
From January 1, 2020 to August 31, 2022 there have been 32,030 claims made between ports of entry. Annex A provides total breakdowns by province, year and month.
