COW – International Migration Review Forum – May 28, 2026
The International Migration Review Forum brings together countries, international organizations, and civil society every four years to review progress in implementing the objectives of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
Canada demonstrated our long-standing and ongoing leadership on responsible migration governance, including how we have built a well-managed, sustainable immigration system that supports strong communities and long-term success.
A well-managed immigration system ensures that migrants contribute to Canada as workers, business owners, and members of our communities—this builds public trust and confidence and protects the integrity of our system.
We are also taking clear steps to support well-managed migration in other countries around the world by investing in projects that strengthen systems for safe and orderly migration.
This reduces drivers of irregular migration and protects our borders and immigration system.
Strong migration systems help make migration safe and orderly. They also help protect people on the move and support Canada's humanitarian goals.
