We are taking every necessary step to respond to the Ebola outbreak and protect public health in coordination with partners, including the Public Health Agency of Canada, Canada Border Services Agency and Global Affairs Canada.
That's why we announced new measures to prevent the spread of Ebola in Canada.
As of May 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EDT, we are suspending certain immigration documents for foreign nationals outside of Canada who reside in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan for the next 90 days.
During this time, we also intend to temporarily pause making decisions on applications for these documents from residents of these countries.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents may still return to Canada but may have to undergo screening upon their arrival as required by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
