For Life-Threatening Emergencies, Call 911
Medical Emergencies
Call 911. Afterwards, report to Security Operations Centre at 613-941-2110 or IRCC. NHQSecurity-SecuriteAC.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
Fire
Call 911 and ask for the fire department as soon as possible. Immediately pull the fire alarm and alert other staff to evacuate. Use the nearest safe stairwell(s) to exit - do not use elevators to evacuate.
Hostage Taking
Call 911 and do not intervene. When circumstances permit, contact Security Operations Centre at 613-941-2110 or IRCC. NHQSecurity-SecuriteAC.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
Hazardous Material
Call 911. If safe to do so, report it immediately to the National Service Call Centre at 1-800-463-1850.
Leaks or Flooding
Call the National Service Call Centre at 1-800-463-1850.
Electrical Power Outage
Call the National Service Call Centre at 1-800-463-1850. Unplug unnecessary electrical equipment and appliances to avoid a power surge.
Cyber Threat
If you receive a suspicious e-mail, do not click any links. Attach the message to a new email, send it to IRCC.SPAM-PourrieI.IRCC@cic.gc.ca and delete the message from your inbox. All other Cyber Security related enquiries can be sent to IRCC.lTSEC-SECTl.lRCC@cic.gc.ca or call the IT Service Desk at 613-954-1000.
Protests and Occupations
If you witness demonstrators close to an IRCC building entrance, do not intervene or attempt to relocate any demonstrators. Contact Security Operations Centre at 613-941-2110 or IRCC. NHQSecurity-SecuriteAC.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
Suspicious Package
If you notice a suspicious package, do not touch it. Report it immediately to the Security Operations Centre at 613-941-2110 or IRCC.NHQSecuritySecuriteAC.IRCC@cic.gc.ca. Stay at least 25 meters away.
Elevator Emergencies
Remain calm if trapped and use the emergency phone in the elevator car to connect with the monitoring centre. Notify the National Service Call Centre immediately at 1-800-463-1850.
Workplace Violence
If there is violence in the workplace and you feel your physical safety and security is threatened, call 911. If you witness a violent incident that you do not believe warrants calling 911, contact Security Operations Centre at 613-941-2110 or IRCC.NHQSecuritySecuriteAC.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
Bomb Threat
If you receive a bomb threat by phone, listen carefully, remain calm, and permit the caller to say as much as possible without being interrupted. Note the phone number from caller ID and any other identifying information possible, such as voice and background noise. Call 911 once the conversation is over. If you receive a bomb threat by email, do not delete the email and report it to the Security Operations Centre at 613-941-2110 or IRCC.NHQSecuritySecuriteAC.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
Shelter-in-Place
Listen to instructions from your Building Emergency Evacuation Team, the Emergency
Voice Communication System and/or the IRCC Notification System of when a shelter-in-place has been enacted or lifted. Stay inside the building until it is confirmed that it is safe to exit.
Building Evacuation
Lock your computer and put away any confidential files if you feel it is safe to do so. Evacuate the building using the nearest safe exit and listen to instructions from your building emergency representative. Use the stairs. Do not use the elevators.

Earthquake
Get as close to the ground as possible, and protect your head, neck and torso. Seek shelter inside a room that is internally located within the building, ideally in the basement or on the ground floor. Do not use elevators.
Armed Intruders
If you witness or hear an incident involving an armed intruder: Run: Evacuate the facility if it is safe to do so. Hide/conceal: If evacuation is not an option, building occupants should hide out of sight. Defend: If evacuation or concealment are not an option and the intruder finds you, defend yourself by any means necessary.
