Canada announces new international migration capacity-building projects
Backgrounder
As part of its ongoing work with international partners, Canada is investing in projects that help improve how migration is managed around the world. These investments support safe, orderly and regular migration, while also helping countries better integrate newcomers. This includes supporting better migration systems, training officials, and expanding safe and regular pathways for people to move between countries.
Through the International Migration Capacity Building Program, Canada is funding a series of new projects that respond to shared migration challenges and opportunities. These projects support practical solutions, including improving labour mobility and employment opportunities for migrants, reinforcing regular pathways and enhancing border and migration management systems. By strengthening systems abroad, Canada helps support more effective migration pathways, reduce irregular migration, and contribute to global stability.
This work also supports Canada’s domestic priorities in maintaining a well-managed and sustainable immigration system.
