Outreach Survey to Refugees in the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program

Ottawa, December 2018 — In January 2019, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be inviting privately sponsored refugees, who have arrived in Canada within the past 6 months, to participate in a survey. Participants will be selected at random and will be contacted either online or by telephone.

About the survey

Canada has a strong and unique tradition of private sponsorship. The Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Program officially began in 1978 and allows Canadians, and permanent residents, to get involved in the resettlement of vulnerable refugees. The PSR Program complements Canada’s other resettlement programs and helps us welcome more refugees each year than the government could resettle alone.

In January 2019, we may contact you to learn more about your experience as a privately sponsored refugee, and to assess the financial and settlement support that you are getting.

Completing the survey is voluntary and all answers are confidential. They will only be viewed by IRCC employees who will use the survey to evaluate the PSR Program and the support you are getting.
