Survey for refugees in the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program

Ottawa, March 25, 2021—Beginning March 29, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be inviting privately sponsored refugees from the Group of Five and Community Sponsorship streams to participate in a survey. Participants will be selected at random and will be contacted online and in some cases by telephone.

About the survey

If you are currently in the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program, IRCC may contact you to learn more about your experience as a privately sponsored refugee.

If you are contacted, this means that you were randomly selected to take part in this work, and your participation in the survey will not impact your status with IRCC. The survey is intended to support improvements to program delivery at IRCC, and your participation would be appreciated.

As you are a privately sponsored refugee, your sponsor has agreed to provide financial (such as money for basic needs) and settlement supports (such as setting up a bank account or finding a doctor) to help you adjust to life during your first year in Canada.

If we contact you, we will ask you questions about the supports you have received and your experience with the sponsorship program so far.

You will receive an online questionnaire to complete, and an IRCC officer may contact you by telephone.

The online survey will be available in various languages, and an interpreter will be available for the calls.

We look forward to hearing from you about your experience. Therefore, we ask that you respond to the questions, not your sponsor.

Only IRCC employees will see your answers. They won’t be shared with your sponsors.

We will use the survey to evaluate the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program and the supports you are getting. If you have not received the supports you are entitled to under the program, we may follow up with your sponsors.
