Policy Dialogue Program

On June 20, 2024, the Budget Implementation Act, 2024, received Royal Assent and brought into force amendments to the Impact Assessment Act (IAA). These changes were made in response to the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision on the constitutionality of the IAA. Over the coming weeks and months, this website along with procedures, policy and guidance documents will be updated to reflect these legislative changes, as required.

The Policy Dialogue Program aims to support effective engagement in the development of policies, guidance, regulations and legislation related to impact assessment.

This funding is provided outside the context of an assessment process. These funds support dialogue with the Agency through:

Who is eligible

Eligible recipients for contribution funding include:

To be eligible for contribution funding under the Policy Dialogue Program, applicants must be able to demonstrate a direct interest, expertise or Indigenous knowledge relevant to the topic of the policy. Applicants who have expertise in policy development, tools, methodologies and guidance are also eligible.

What you need to know before you apply

Applications will only be considered for posted funding opportunities and are subject to the availability of funds.

Applicants can submit an expression of interest, application or proposal for the posted opportunity using the Microsoft Word or PDF format. Program Guidelines will be made available depending on specific funding opportunities and will include information on program requirements and criteria.

New funding opportunities and associated criteria

After you apply

The Agency will contact applicants about funding decisions. This usually happens within two months after the application submitted.

Contribution agreement

The Agency will contact successful applicants and provide them with a contribution agreement to sign.

Detailed financial report

Successful applicants with existing contribution agreements must complete a detailed financial report in order to be reimbursed. This includes providing supporting invoices and/or receipts for reimbursement of eligible expenses incurred over the course of the assessment or engagement initiative.
