Free online service cuts red tape and helps business owners save time

December 21, 2017 – Branch, Newfoundland and Labrador

Starting and running a business in Branch, Newfoundland and Labrador, just became easier thanks to BizPaL, an online business permit and licence service that saves business owners time and helps entrepreneurs start up faster.

The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, today announced the implementation of BizPaL in the municipality of Branch, Newfoundland and Labrador. Branch is the 100th municipality in the province to join the BizPaL service, which has been available there since 2009. This free online application is a directory of the permits and licences required to start or run a business. BizPaL saves business people time searching for information and, as a result, helps them meet their obligations more easily.

“BizPaL is a great tool that helps cut red tape and allows entrepreneurs to focus on what’s important—growing their businesses. Our government is proud to support Canadian small businesses by providing them with the tools they need to succeed. I am pleased to join Minister Gambin-Walsh in celebrating the 100th community in Newfoundland and Labrador joining this great program. We will continue to work with all levels of government to support these businesses as they work to innovate, create jobs and help grow the middle class.”

– The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism

“This is a significant milestone for Newfoundland and Labrador. BizPaL helps entrepreneurs by guiding them through the requirements for setting up their businesses, whether they choose to do so in an urban area like St. John’s or a rural municipality such as Branch. With services like BizPaL, opportunities for economic development are no longer limited by geography. I look forward to welcoming additional municipalities in the coming year.”

– The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Service Newfoundland and Labrador
