Domestic Trade Commissioners Network
Enhancing internal trade and removing barriers are key to opening new domestic markets for Canadian businesses, attracting greater foreign investment and trade, and generating economic growth. A more integrated domestic market will help Canadian businesses access new revenue opportunities and identify alternative local suppliers.
The Domestic Trade Commissioners Network (DTCN) was launched in collaboration with provinces and territories on March 30, 2026, to help small and medium-sized enterprises grow, adapt, and create lasting jobs in all regions of the country.
The DTCN will include domestic trade commissioners from each province and territory, as well as federal Regional Development Agencies (RDAs). Together, they will help businesses build connections, solidify partnerships, expand their markets and strengthen Canadian supply chains through domestic trade missions. In collaboration with industry and government partners across Canada, the DTCN will also support the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in domestic trade missions and events across the country.
This work builds on efforts by RDAs to fuel regional economic growth across Canada and complements work to remove barriers to trade through the federal Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act and Regulations, the Canadian Mutual Recognition Agreement on the sale of goods, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Interprovincial Trucking.
