What's New: Fifth Edition of PERSPECTIVES

May 19, 2011

The fifth edition of the Canadian Forces Grievance Board's publication Perspectives is now published. Perspectives' intent is to raise decision-makers' awareness of broader issues and trends which come to the Board's attention during the review of individual grievances.

In this issue, the Board discusses the need to update the Home Equity Allowance program given the significant changes in the real estate market in the last ten years. There is also a concern as to how applications for reimbursement of home equity have been dealt with in the Canadian Forces. Also in this issue, the Board examines section 29 of the National Defence Act, which addresses the right to grieve, and cautions against an erroneous interpretation of paragraph 29(2)(c) which may result in restricting the right of Canadian Forces members to grieve many compensation and benefits issues.
