The grievor complained that he was not fairly assessed by the annual selection board. The Committee found that the selection board had interpreted the Performance Scoring Criteria differently than in previous years and in a manner that was inconsistent with the Director General Military Career's guidance. FA decision summary
The Final Authority (FA) agreed with the Committee's finding that the selection board had interpreted and applied the scoring criteria unreasonably. The FA adopted the Committee's recommendation to assess the grievor's file and found that if the criteria had been applied as intended and fairly, he would have been competitive for promotion. The FA therefore directed that the file be considered by a supplementary board. The Committee had also recommended that Director General Military Careers review all scoring criteria to ensure that they were consistent with the intent. The FA noted that the criteria for the grievor's occupation had been revised and considered the issue addressed.
