The grievor complained that his chain of command (CoC) had used deception in order to effect his arrest on a nation-wide warrant. The Committee recognized that the CoC was trying to save the grievor and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) embarrassment, but found that the use of deception by the CoC was unnecessary and unethical. The Committee recommended that the grievor be granted his request for a posting outside of the Regiment and Base where he was currently serving.

FA decision summary

The Acting Chief of the Defence Staff agreed with the Committee's findings and recommendation to grant the grievor redress, but since he was released from the CAF, the request for posting was moot.
