Case summary
F&R Date: 2022-06-20
The grievor alleged that information was presented to his superior as factual, despite that information being false and harmful to his professional and personal reputation and his mental health. As redress, the grievor requests a statement in which the authorities admit to the falsity of what was said about him, assume responsibility, and acknowledge the harm that false information has caused him. He also requests that administrative and disciplinary measures be taken against the authorities involved.
The Initial Authority was not able to issue a decision within the required timeframe due to the pandemic. The grievor thus requested that his grievance be transmitted to the Final Authority (FA) for examination and decision.
The Committee concluded that the authorities did not knowingly make false declarations. Specifically, they immediately informed the chain of command of the allegations as soon as they were received, since they were serious and could not wait for verification of details. Nonetheless, the Committee stated that, for security and for protection of the grievor's personal information, emails about him would have to be encrypted.
The Committee recommended that the FA not grant redress to the grievor.
