Québec, Quebec - The Canadian Coast Guard announces the opening of its St. Lawrence River’s search and rescue stations in Bainsville (Ontario), Pointe-aux-Anglais (Oka), Beaconsfield, Longueuil, Sorel and Trois-Rivières.
The Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs, on behalf of the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, announced today the official re-opening of the Canadian Coast Guard’s Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre St. John’s.
The Canadian Coast Guard plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of mariners and the marine environment. To augment its search and rescue services during the busy summer boating season, each year the Coast Guard hires and trains close to 100 post-secondary students to work at 26 Inshore Rescue Boat stations in strategic locations on the Great Lakes, the Saint John and St. Lawrence Rivers, and Canada’s coastal waters.
Ottawa, Ontario – The Government of Canada is committed to providing the Canadian Coast Guard with the tools and equipment needed to help ensure the safety of mariners and the marine environment, and to facilitate year-round marine shipping that is critical to Canada’s economy.

The Government of Canada is supporting Canadian aircraft maintenance training by donating surplus Coast Guard assets to institutions across Canada. These donations will support the development of well-trained, skilled personnel to serve the aerospace industry of the future.
TWILLINGATE(NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR) – Today, Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays — Central — Notre Dame announced on behalf of the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, that a new Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue Lifeboat Station will be built in Twillingate, NL, to increase the Coast Guard’s search and rescue capacity on the northeast coast of Newfoundland.
ST. JOHN’S (NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR) -- Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame, on behalf of the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, along with the Canadian Coast Guard Atlantic Region, will be in Twillingate to announce details regarding the location of a new search and rescue lifeboat station and to provide a technical briefing for media and invited guests on the process to remove the marine pollution threat from the Manolis L shipwreck.
Now that spring is here, the Canadian Coast Guard would like to inform the public that its seasonal search and rescue bases in Québec City, Tadoussac, Kegaska, Rivière-au-Renard, Havre-Saint-Pierre and Cap-aux-Meules are open.
