On July 13, 2021, during the 3:10 a.m. security round, staff members at Willow Cree Healing Lodge, a minimum security federal institution, discovered that Eugene Desjarlais was not accounted for.
On July 3, 2021, at about 11:07 p.m., as a result of the vigilance of staff members, a package containing contraband and unauthorized items was seized outside near the living units of the medium security unit at Bowden Institution.
On July 4, 2021, due to the vigilance of staff members, packages containing unauthorized items were seized as a result of a suspected drone drop at Collins Bay Institution, a multi-level security facility.
On July 6, 2021, Phillip Vince, an inmate from the Regional Psychiatric Centre died while in our custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.

The health and safety of staff and inmates continues to be a top priority for the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). There are currently zero inmate cases of COVID-19 in federal correctional institutions across the country and, as a result, CSC has started to gradually resume inmate visits.
