Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, met in person in Mexico City with Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, during the Minister’s first visit to Mexico since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, will join Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, and Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative, in Mexico City from July 7 to 8, 2021, to mark the first anniversary of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) and to discuss opportunities to ensure the long-term growth and competitiveness of all 3 economies in their shared recovery from the pandemic.
Minister Garneau reaffirmed Canada’s support for Belarus’ democratic movement and sought Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s views regarding the ongoing human rights violations in the country. Minister Garneau reiterated the need for an international investigation into these violations.
