That is why the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, alongside Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy of Romania; Cosmin Ghiţă, CEO, Societatea Naţională Nuclearelectrica; and Rareṣ Burlacu, President, Romanian Agency for Trade and Investment, announced Canada’s decision to support Romanian energy security and climate action through $3 billion in available export financing to Nuclearelectrica S.A. (SNN), the national operator of the Cernavoda Nuclear Generating Station. This investment will support further Canadian jobs and business activity in Romania’s nuclear sector.

The Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced over $175 million in federal investments for 12 Alberta-based clean energy projects that will create thousands of jobs and enable local economic growth and while delivering clean, affordable energy to communities. The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, on behalf of the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced up to $25 million for the Weavers Mountain Wind Energy Project. The project will supply nearly 95 megawatts (MW) of zero-emissions power by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by almost 165,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year and powering almost 14,000 homes per year. This project will provide clean energy to Nova Scotia’s electricity grid and deliver low and more stable prices for ratepayers in the long term while creating an estimated 230 new jobs.
