As the celebrations for Canadian Environment Week end, we are reminded that we have only one Earth. From the Torngat Mountains on the Labrador Peninsula to Haida Gwaii on the Pacific Ocean, from Point Pelee in Lake Erie to Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan all the way to Iqaluit in Nunavut, Canada makes a signature contribution to the health and biodiversity of the planet. When we protect the environment in Canada, we make the world a better place.
Canada, and the Republic of Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and the Republic of Panama, members of the Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD) confirm our shared commitment to establish a strategic dialogue to ensure continued collaboration on advancing inclusive economic growth and strengthening democracy in the hemisphere. This is in line with the December 11 Declaration by the President of the Alliance at Puerto Plata on the need for Ministers from the Alliance to engage priorities at highest level with strategic partners.

June is Stroke Awareness Month in Canada. Adam van Koeverden, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health, issues a statement on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, the Minister of Health, marking Stroke Awareness Month.
“Following several incidents onboard HMCS Halifax during Operation REASSURANCE, Vice-Admiral Bob Auchterlonie, Commander Canadian Joint Operations Command, has temporarily relieved the Commanding Officer of HMCS Halifax of his duties so that an investigation into the details of the incidents may take place.
Today, the Independent Assessors released the Final Report on Tiller/Copland/Roach RCMP Class Action, which addresses sexual harassment and discrimination experienced with the RCMP between 1974 and 2019.
The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), made the following statement about World Oceans Day on June 8, 2022.
The Honourable Omar Alghabra, Minister of Transport, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health, the Honourable Marco Mendicino, Minister of Public Safety, and the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, issued this statement today to provide an update on actions the Government of Canada and industry partners are taking to reduce wait times at Canadian airports:
“In response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine—a flagrant violation of the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, based on international law—the other founding states of the Arctic Council—Canada, Finland, Iceland, the Kingdom of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the United States—on March 3 announced a pause in their participation in the Arctic Council.”
