Today, Canada’s Minister of Seniors, Joanne Thompson, announced $1.57 million in funding for three pilot projects in Manitoba. The Minister was joined by Kevin Lamoureux, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg North and Ben Carr, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South Centre. These projects mobilize volunteers to help low-income and otherwise vulnerable seniors in their homes. They were selected after an open call for proposals under the Age Well at Home initiative’s In-Home Support Pilot Project stream.

Today, the honourable Marci Ien, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth and Irek Kusmierczyk, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages and Member of Parliament for Windsor – Tecumseh announced approximately $2 million in funding to Black Kids in Action Performing Art Group for their Investing in our Youth to Champion Success for the Future project for the next two fiscal years.
When marine incidents happen in remote coastal areas, members of Indigenous communities are often the first to respond, as instrumental partners in Canada’s search and rescue system. As part of the Oceans Protection Plan, the Government of Canada is committed to enhancing on-water safety and community-based marine response by supporting Indigenous communities’ active participation in Canada’s marine safety response system.
