Today, David Chartrand, President of the Manitoba Métis Federation, Government of the Red River Métis and the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations announced that they have signed the Red River Métis Self-Government Recognition and Implementation Treaty. This Self-Government Treaty affirms and builds on previous work with the Manitoba Métis Federation in 2021.

Today at the Sustainable Finance Forum, the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jenna Sudds announced the launch of the Pilot Social Equity Lens Investment (SELI) Coding System. This new tool is a taxonomy that will define, assess, and track progress toward the Social Finance Fund's investment targets of advancing social equity and gender equality. The Pilot SELI Coding System will be used to ensure that the Government of Canada is meeting its social equity and gender equality goals when it comes to investing in social finance initiatives. Indigenous reconciliation has been integrated as a foundational principle within the Pilot SELI Coding System.

Today in Toronto, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced that the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will receive nearly $1.2 billion over the next decade through the Baseline stream of the new Canada Public Transit Fund. She was joined by the Honourable Peter Bethlenfalvy, the Minister of Finance of Ontario, the Honourable Prabmeet Sarkaria, the Minister of Transport of Ontario, and Her Worship Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto. The Canada Public Transit Fund is the largest public transit investment in Canadian history with $3 billion in annual federal funding provided to communities across the country.
