Today, Ogimaa-Kwe (Chief) Claire Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Honourable Greg Rickford, Ontario’s Minister for Indigenous Affairs and First Nations Economic Reconciliation and the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, announced a proposed financial settlement to resolve the Mississaugas of the Credit’s Rouge River Valley Tract Claim.

The Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for CanNor, the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree; the President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, Jeremy Tunraluk; and the Premier of Nunavut, P.J. Akeeagok, signed an Implementation Contract (the Contract) under the Nunavut Agreement for the next 10 years – this milestone Contract will positively impact Nunavut Inuit and provide support for a self-determined future.

Me Sylvain Villiard is an experienced lawyer and manager who has worked in government administration. One of his roles was as Assistant Director General of the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), where he led the modernization project. As a consultant, he supported organisations and companies of the socio-health care network. He was also the Director General of the CHU de Brazzaville in Congo. He recently joined the Centre de services scolaire des Mille-Îles as a management consultant, and he also works in contract law and administrative law. Me Villiard served on different Boards of Directors and was appointed to JCCBI’s Board of Directors on June 15, 2017.
