Today, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, Randy Boissonnault, announced $9,023,177 in funding for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Canadian District (UBC). This investment, made through the Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Program, will support the UBC Bridge to Red Seal project, which aims to support 1,500 internationally trained skilled workers.

We’ve taken significant steps to push that Russian oil out of the world market. Now, we need to move further and work harder. And I believe, Canada believes, that now is the moment to undertake that work with our allies. And I’m glad to be saying that to you here at UCC Alberta because Canada as an energy power, Alberta as an energy power, has a real voice and a real role to play in making it possible for us, as the G7, to really push Russian oil out of the global market.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Province of Prince Edward Island announced $7,692,845 to support for 39 projects through the Atlantic Fisheries Fund. These projects focus on innovation and infrastructure.
With the longest coastline in the world, Canada’s coastal communities rely on the fish and seafood industry as an integral contributor to local and regional economies. This is why the Government of Canada and the Province of Prince Edward Island are supporting companies in the province, through the Atlantic Fisheries Fund (AFF).
Small craft harbours are the heart of many coastal communities, bringing people together in work and play, while supporting jobs in the fish and seafood industry for over 45,000 Canadians. As part of Budget 2024, $463.3 million over three years will be invested for the repair and maintenance of small craft harbours, including those damaged by Hurricane Fiona, starting in 2024-25. This is on top of the Department’s annual budget of $90 million for these harbours.
A significant portion of Budget 2024 investments will be undertaken at the following harbours in Prince Edward Island that are managed by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
