Following the release of the Department’s final re-evaluation decision on glyphosate in 2017, Health Canada received eight notices of objection. The objections raised did not create doubt or concern regarding the scientific basis of the decision. The Department’s final re-evaluation decision for glyphosate will stand.

Global Affairs Canada today issued the following statement following confirmation by the Madagascar’s High Constitutional Court of the results of the country’s presidential election.
Today, Nicolás Maduro’s regime loses any remaining appearance of legitimacy. Having seized power through fraudulent and anti-democratic elections held on May 20, 2018, the Maduro regime is now fully entrenched as a dictatorship. The suffering of Venezuelans will only worsen should he continue to illegitimately cling to power.
The International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG) has been successful in advancing justice and accountability for the people of Guatemala, and in fighting against impunity for crimes. Canada is deeply disappointed with the Guatemalan government’s announcement that it will unilaterally terminate its agreement with the United Nations and the mandate of the CICIG. Canada has been a strong supporter of Guatemala’s efforts to fight corruption and impunity, including through the CICIG and the work of Guatemala’s public ministry.
