Shelters provide protection, services and resources that enable women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people who have experienced gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence and exploitation, to have a safe space to turn and take steps to regain an independent and self-determined life.

A first-of-its kind National Summit on Indigenous Mental Wellness was held September 23, 2022 in Toronto. This summit brought together First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, tribal councils, organizations and leaders, as well as front-line service providers, to share best practices and build new collaborations to improve mental wellness services to Indigenous people.
Please be advised that a National Summit on Indigenous Mental Wellness will take place in Toronto on Friday, September 23. This summit will bring together Indigenous partners and front-line community experts to share and learn from the best mental health and wellness practices across the country. This summit aims to help community partners strengthen their networks of expertise and ultimately improve the service delivery of mental wellness supports, substance use services and suicide prevention in Indigenous communities.
