The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and Member of Parliament for Lévis, Bellechasse et des Etchemins, announced today that the Government of Canada has awarded a $13.6 million contract to Chantier Davie Canada Inc. for Vessel Life Extension and refit work for the Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) Earl Grey.

Today represents an important milestone. The Ministerial Advisory Committee on Atlantic Salmon is meeting for the first time to discuss low salmon returns on the East Coast and measures that can be taken to reverse this trend.
Campbell River, BC ¿ On March 6, the Honourable John Duncan, MP for Vancouver Island North, will announce a significant Government of Canada investment in infrastructure on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

On behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, the Honourable John Duncan, Minister of State, Chief Government Whip, and Member of Parliament for Vancouver Island North, announced today an investment of approximately $1.5 million to support Canadian Coast Guards assets that contribute to maritime safety: the Search and Rescue Station in Campbell River and eight lighthouses on Vancouver Island and B.C. Central Coast.
