David Wilks, Member of Parliament for Kootenay-Columbia, on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, today visited the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Trail Armoury to announce a $1 million investment for numerous upgrades to the facility over the next two years.
The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) will premiere new shorts by four of this country's renowned Aboriginal filmmakers at the Aboriginal Pavilion, a 19-day arts, culture and sports festival being held during the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, July 10–26 and August 7–9, 2015. The film series entitled Souvenir is presented as an installation in the mixed-media exhibit Gazing Back, Looking Forward, opening today at the Fort York National Historic Site's Visitor Centre.
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, and Pierre Moreau, Quebec's Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, are pleased to announce that the City of Sainte-Thérèse will receive $1,538,000 to renovate and turn an existing building into a cultural centre, which will house a cabaret theatre. The project will be funded under the new federal-provincial Gas Tax Fund agreement and from the Government of Quebec's contribution for priority infrastructure projects.
The Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario was joined today by the Honourable Michael Gravelle, Ontario's Minister of Northern Development and Mines, to announce joint funding under the New Building Canada Plan for two projects to improve Highway 11/17 in Ontario. These upgrades will help increase mobility between Thunder Bay and Nipigon thus significantly benefiting North Western Ontario for years to come.
Residents in Brockville will benefit from the Centre Street Reconstruction project thanks to joint funding from the Governments of Canada and Ontario through the Small Communities Fund.
