The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has been recognized by the Community of Federal Regulators for its work on two important initiatives that have had concrete outcomes for Canadians.
The Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, today announced the introduction of the Canada-Quebec Gulf of St. Lawrence Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act. This fulfills the Government's commitment to introduce legislation to implement the Canada-Quebec Accord, signed in March 2011.
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, and Francine Charbonneau, Minister of Families, Seniors and Anti-Bullying and Minister responsible for the Laval region, on behalf of Robert Poëti, Quebec Minister of Transport, are pleased to announce that the Société de transport de Laval will receive $89,760 funded under the Programme d'aide aux immobilisations en transport en commun [public transit capital assistance program] of Quebec's Société de financement des infrastructures locales (SOFIL) and by the Department of Transport. The funding for SOFIL's program and the Department of Transport's participation comes from the federal Gas Tax Fund and a Quebec Government contribution.

Situated near the Boundary Dam Carbon Capture Project, this is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world.

Today, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, highlighted the Royal Assent of Bill C-12, the Drug-Free Prisons Act. Our Government's Bill amends the Corrections and Conditional Release Act to provide the Parole Board of Canada (PBC) with explicit legislative tools to reconsider the release of criminals who have been granted parole, but refused or failed a drug test prior to being released in the community.
