Industry Minister James Moore today announced that the Government of Canada and the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have reached an agreement that will help emergency responders from Canada, including police officers, firefighters and paramedics, do critical work to enhance the safety of citizens living along the Canada¿U.S. border. Public safety officials from Canada will be able to use their radios in border areas in the U.S. and vice versa.
On October 20, 2014, at about 1:10 p.m. an inmate was found to have been victim of an assault in the medium security unit at Drumheller Institution. The injured inmate was immediately evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment.
The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today launched the Government of Canada's safety awareness campaign for unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), or drones. The national campaign will help ensure UAV users-both recreational and commercial-understand the rules of the skies and always think safety first.

Today, Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George – Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced over $249,000 in federal funding to the North Peace Airport Society, under the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF) in support of water infrastructure upgrades to the North Peace Regional Airport.

As part of the strengthened and modernized Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012) put in place to support the government's Responsible Resource Development Initiative, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) must decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the proposed Akasaba West Copper-Gold Mine Project located approximately 15 kilometres east of Val-d'Or, Quebec.
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, the Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, Minister of National Revenue, and Bob Dechert, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice, recently concluded a productive six-day, three-city trade mission to India to bolster Canada-India trade and investment partnerships. They were joined by representatives from 14 Canadian companies-predominately small and medium-sized enterprises-looking at new commercial opportunities in India.
"Yesterday, two members of the Canadian Armed Forces were injured in a hit-run incident in Saint-Jean-Richelieu, Quebec. One member later died in hospital.
