Mr. Jim Hillyer, Member of Parliament for Lethbridge, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, today announced approval for the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) to operate its first facility in Waterton Lakes National Park. The Parks Canada warden cabin at Cameron Lake will be converted to an ACC backcountry hut providing overnight accommodation in the winter.
Parks Canada has approved a proposal from the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) to convert the Cameron Lake Cabin in Waterton Lakes National Park to overnight winter accommodation. The cabin will be renovated to accommodate up to six guests and will operate between December 1 and April 30 every year. Necessary renovations will be completed this summer so that the cabin will be operational starting this winter.
