Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists that the Rapides-Joachims Bridge, connecting Rolphton, Ontario, and Rapides-Joachims, Quebec, will be closed to vehicular traffic intermittently from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, November 12, until Friday, November 14.
The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today released for consultation draft legislative proposals to implement amendments to the functional currency tax reporting rules in the Income Tax Act.

The panel mandated to review Hydro-Québec's Romaine Hydroelectric Complex Project will be holding the second part of the public hearing starting December 1, 2008. A live audio broadcast of the sessions will be available on the BAPE Web site at www.bape.gouv.qc.ca. Simultaneous interpretation into Innu language will be available on site. Those interested in remotely presenting their brief to the panel verbally, will have access to a telephone line during the Sept-Îles sessions starting December 9, 2008.

At the invitation of Mr. Maxime Bono, deputy-mayor of La Rochelle, and by the Escales documentaires festival international du documentaire de création in La Rochelle, His Excellency Jean-Daniel Lafond will be the patron of the Festival which takes place from November 7 to 11, 2008. In that capacity, he will preside over the jury and take part in various activities, discussions and in an Art Matters forum. During his visit to France, Mr. Lafond will inaugurate the e-cinema at the Centre culturel canadien in Paris, and its new series of round tables, "Les déjeuners de l'Esplanade".
