OTTAWA-Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will present the insignia of Officer of the Order of Canada to Charles Aznavour, a French Citizen who, as a singer, composer and actor, has helped establish important cultural ties between French-speaking communities in Canada and other countries. The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that the Fédération des pourvoiries du Québec (FPQ)-the Quebec federation of outfitters-has been awarded $480,145 in non-repayable funding toward the implementation of the first year of its marketing plan. Targeting clienteles outside Quebec, this plan will focus mainly on promoting the hunting and fishing activities offered through the province's outfitting operations.
Once again this year, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can look forward to seeing local, Canadian, and international films created by women, thanks to an investment by the Government of Canada.
