The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, and the Member of the National Assembly for Papineau and Chief Whip for the Quebec Government, Norman MacMillan, on behalf of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Regions, Nathalie Normandeau, are pleased to announce that the Municipality of Notre-Dame-Salette will receive $119,540 under the federal-provincial agreement on the transfer of a portion of federal gasoline excise tax revenues and the Government of Québec's contribution. This is the first payment to Notre-Dame-Salette which will receive a total of $298,848 by the end of 2009 for important infrastructure projects.

The Honourable John Baird, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, today announced the referral of the proposed Darlington New Nuclear Power Plant project near Oshawa, Ontario to an environmental assessment by a review panel.
