The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has officially delivered its contribution to ASTRO H, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's (JAXA's) flagship space astronomy mission. The Canadian ASTRO-H Metrology System (CAMS) arrived at JAXA's Tsukuba Space Centre in late January 2015, and has since been integrated into the space telescope. ASTRO-H marks the first time Canada is part of an X-ray astronomy mission. The telescope is designed to explore mysterious phenomena in the universe in unprecedented detail and will advance scientists' knowledge of black holes, supernova explosions, neutron stars, and how galaxies like our own Milky Way were formed.
