The Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development, along with the Honourable Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour for British Columbia, applauded the completion of 45 targeted skills-training programs which helped more than 1,700 British Columbians gain the skills needed to qualify for jobs in their communities. The Ministers made the announcement following their first bilateral meeting today.

The community of Délı̨nę [Day-lee-nay] Délı̨nę is the first community in the Northwest Territories with its own Aboriginal self-government agreement. The Agreement was celebrated today by the members of the Délı̨nę community, Mark Strahl, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, Leonard Kenny, Chief of the Délı̨nę First Nation, Gina Dolphus, President of the Délı̨nę Land Corporation, and the Honourable Bob McLeod, Premier and Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations for the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT).
