February 18, 2015 - Newfoundland and Labrador The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, today announced that the Government of Canada has awarded an $8.5 million contract to NEWDOCK St. John's Dockyard Limited for Vessel Life Extension (VLE) and refit work for Canadian Coast Guard ship CCGS Leonard J. Cowley.

Death of an inmate at Millhaven Institution

On February 16, 2015, Randy Hillson, an inmate at Millhaven Institution, was found in need of medical attention in his cell at the institutional hospital. Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
