The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, today announced that the Government of Canada has awarded an $8.5 million contract to NEWDOCK St. John's Dockyard Limited for Vessel Life Extension (VLE) and refit work for Canadian Coast Guard ship CCGS Leonard J. Cowley.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (the Tribunal) today initiated an expiry review of its orders made on November 1, 2010, in Expiry Review No. RR-2009-003, to determine if the continued or resumed dumping and subsidizing of refined sugar from the United States of America, Denmark, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the European Union are likely to result in injury.
On February 16, 2015, Randy Hillson, an inmate at Millhaven Institution, was found in need of medical attention in his cell at the institutional hospital. Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.

On January 29, 2015 the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Criminal Investigations Section laid charges against four B.C. men in relation to an anabolic steroid smuggling and distribution ring. These are the latest charges in a two year investigation that spanned across the nation from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.
