On November 7, 2014, following a fair, open and transparent competitive process, Public Works and Government Services Canada awarded Brookfield Johnson Controls Canada LP, of Markham, Ontario, six contracts for the delivery of diverse real property services on behalf of the Government of Canada, including the management of approximately 3,800 government buildings, facilities and land across Canada (8 million m2).

The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development, and the Council of Atlantic Premiers today announced that apprenticeship requirements in six new trades will be harmonized across the Atlantic provinces: carpenter, welder, metal fabricator, steamfitter-pipefitter, plumber and industrial electrician. This is in addition to work that has already started on previously announced trades. As a result, Canadians apprenticing in these 10 trades will have access to consistent training, certification and standards, leading to more job opportunities and greater mobility while helping address skills shortages in this region.

A total of nine Francophone entrepreneurs from Atlantic Canada have been nominated for the 2014 Lauriers de la PME awards, to be held in Moncton, New Brunswick, on November 15, 2014. This is the first time this prestigious national event is being held outside of the Ottawa, Ontario, region, since its inception in the early 2000s.
OTTAWA – All Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) medical staff will shortly be able to enter mental health data directly into military electronic health records, allowing clinicians wherever CAF members are serving to view assessments and results immediately in a secure and confidential manner.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) acquired new software to help improve mental health treatment for CAF members. Through the immediate and continuous tracking of progress, treatment will be more readily individually modified and optimized.
