The rural municipalities of Killarney-Turtle Mountain and Whitehead are benefitting from the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund

The governments of Canada and Manitoba are announcing funding for two additional projects in communities in western Manitoba under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund.
The Small Communities Fund is part of the $10-billion Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component of the New Building Canada Fund. It will provide $1 billion to municipalities with fewer than 100,000 residents for priority public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs.
The funding announced for the Rural Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain will be used to extend the existing water distribution and sewer collection systems to service residents of Oak Point Drive and surrounding area. Work will include upgrades to the lift station, forcemain and the installation of new fire hydrants. In the Rural Municipality of Whitehead, the funding will be used to complete the final phase of the waterline expansion project; which started in 2005. This phase will extend waterlines to 45 agricultural and rural properties in the western-most portion of the municipality.
